Spirituality
What I’m doing for spiritual growth.
I was raised in a United Methodist church and then decided to take 20 years off. During this time I explored sex, drugs, Rock and Roll, Buddhism, The Tao Te Ching, yoga, mind-body medicine, Hinduism, the Bhagivad Ghita, self glorification and just about every kind of self help book you can imagine. Some of my favorite authors at the time were Zig Ziglar, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, Ram Dass (Richard Alpert), Tony Robbins, Carolyn Myss, and Brian Tracy.
In 2008 my wife and I decided to give church a try. We figured it would be good for our son, Zack. I didn’t know how it would transform us. We’ve been attending Chase Oaks Church in Plano, Texas for 2 years now and it has made all the difference in our lives. I didn’t plan this at all, but I went with an open mind and open heart and I am really amazed at the transformation it has made in our lives and the lives of others.
I’m currently reading books by Ed M. Smith, Bill Johnson, Jon Welton, Max Lucado, Rick Joyner, and Mike Bickle.
We recently visited a church that I find very interesting. It is called HOZ and is located in Dallas. I would consider the church a young, hip crowd that loves to worship and pray. We went to a seminar this year at HOZ and heard a guy named Brad McClendon speak. Brad has a wonderful testimony of faith and is very easy to understand. I think his message is clear and we can all learn a lot from him. You can read more about him at Living Vine Ministries.
Family
What I’m doing at home.
I think probably the biggest challenge at home is finding balance between working, playing, parenting and being a good husband. We’re taking a family vacation soon and that’s probably one of the most exciting things we’ve done in a while. I’m doing some freelance web design from home on the weekends, but time has been really limited so I can’t take on more than 2-3 projects at a time.
Career
What I’m doing for greenbacks.
I’m currently the Senior Web Designer for a company called ACH Direct. We process payments. My main project is designing, revising and updating our Payments Gateway Site.
Music
What I’m squeezing into my spare time.
I can’t seem to get enough music in my life. It’s one of the most exciting things I can imagine. One of my favorite things to do is listen to music and figure it out by ear, or improvise over chord changes. I’ve learned a lot about music in the past 2 years and I have so much fun playing and improvising. There’s still a chance I might have to join a band one day.
